FAQ

Straight answers.

What detail shop and car wash owners ask before they switch it on.

What it does

What does DetailFront answer?

Your phone, your texts, and your website chat, 24/7, in your shop's name. Every conversation ends with a summary to your phone and your inbox.

The full call, first ring to booked job, is on how it works.

How does it quote from my menu?

From the prices you give it, as a band that moves with vehicle size and paint condition. A coupe and a lifted truck never get the same number, and you lock the price in when you see the car.

Can a customer text a photo for a quote?

Yes. It reads the paint from the photo, says what it sees in one line, and quotes the right service from your menu. A dark or blurry photo gets a polite ask for one in daylight.

Does it book onto my calendar?

Yes, in the mode you choose: routine work books itself, every booking waits for your one-tap approval, or it takes a message and your team calls back.

Does it answer after hours and on weekends?

Every hour, all week. A Saturday afternoon call and a 9pm text get the same answer as 10am on a Tuesday. 82% of consumers say they call a competitor when a business doesn't pick up (CallRail survey of 1,000 US consumers, 2025).

What if the phone rings while we're mid-job?

It picks up in seconds, so nobody puts the polisher down. Two calls at once both get answered.

Does it handle texts?

Yes. Texts to your line get answered with the same menu and rules, and a caller who hangs up before booking gets a text back so the job isn't lost.

Can it hand a caller to me?

Yes. When a customer asks for a person, the job is custom, or something doesn't add up, it takes their details and alerts you at once with the transcript. You can take over any text thread from your dashboard in one tap.

Can I keep my phone number?

Yes. Forward your number to it always, after hours only, or only when you don't pick up. Your number stays on the van, the sign, and your Google listing.

What it never does

Will it promise a stain or a scratch comes out?

Never. It doesn't promise a result it can't see. Deep scratches, clear coat failure, and matte or wrapped paint go to you for a look, with no figure given.

Can it change or cancel a wash membership?

No. It never changes a membership, a card on file, or a bill. Membership, billing, and damage calls go to you or your manager with the caller's details and the transcript.

How it works at a wash is on the car wash page.

Will it make up a price?

No. It only quotes the prices you give it. A service with no price gets no figure: it books the car in or takes a message.

Does it sound like a robot?

Judge it yourself: start a call in your browser and play a customer. Every call is recorded and transcribed, so you always know what your callers heard.

Setup and cost

Who sets it up?

We do. We load your menu, hours, service area, and rules, then run it and keep it tuned. You tell us what to change, and we change it.

How much does it cost?

One monthly plan, priced to your shop, month to month. Car washes and shops with several locations get a plan priced to them after one conversation.

What the plan includes is on pricing.

Do I need new software?

No. Summaries arrive by text and email, and bookings land on your calendar, beside whatever you run today.

Can we hear it first?

Yes, right now. Start a call in your browser and ask what a ceramic coating on a Tahoe costs, or book a full detail. Then tell us about your shop, and we build yours.

Hear it live or talk to us.

Who owns my recordings and transcripts?

You do. They reach you when the call ends and stay in your dashboard.

The privacy policy covers handling in full.

Who is DetailFront?

We build and run AI receptionists for auto detailing shops and car washes, fully managed.
